Things We See in Everyday Life

We see ads and visual rhetoric in our everyday lives. We see them on TV, on billboards, and just as we walk around. Advertisers use visual rhetoric as a tool of persuasion because they want us to buy a certain product. A certain tactic they use is placing an attractive women in any type of ad this includes magazine ads, billboards, commercials, and many others. This method is used for both men and women's products, but with a slight difference. In men's products such as aftershave or cologne they use attractive women to make the customer think that by buying this product they will attract beautiful women. On the other hand companies use attractive women to model clothing, make up, or perfume in order to make the women buying the product to feel like purchasing this product will make them look like the beautiful women in the advertisements. Other advertisers simply make the product look better than the actual product on TV or in print ads. An example of this is fast food ads such as McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and many others. Their advertisements make the food look a lot more appealing than the food actual looks and tastes when you order it at the restaurant. The main goal of advertisements is to evoke an emotion in people to make them want to buy the product. Advertisements have become part of everyone's life that is inescapable because it is almost everywhere you look.
